From the land that brought us marvelous Beautiful Thing, Get Real, Queer As Folk (UK), Metrosexuality and Gimme Gimme Gimme, here comes another great gay themed tv series - Beautiful People. When I watched the first episode, I was overjoyed to know that it was written by Jonathan Harvey, who wrote us the wonderful Beautiful Thing (1996).

The tv series focuses on gay Simon Doonan in his years of growing up in a dysfunctional family. Here, we have the adult Simon (cute Samuel Barnett) relating to his younger years, played out by a young Simon (Luke Ward-Wilkinson). He was surrounded by a slutty sister, alcoholic mom, blind aunt and a father suspected of two-timing his mother. His best friend hung out with him often, to rate the clothes of the people on the street.

This gay tv series is witty and funny. Wonderfully written, and I cannot wait for another week to catch a new episode. This is definitely one of the best gay product of 2008. Even in the general ranking, it is one of the best tv products of 2008.
