If anyone still wanna claim this song as a gay song, it is not surprising. Look at the lyrics. It is speaking of a man who is longing to be accepted and wanted to be loved. And since that the lead singer Morrissey was reputed to be gay, it makes a perfect fit that How Soon Is Now, from the album Hatful of Hollow (1984), is a song that cries out the longing of a gay man for love.
